The Rotary Club of Cebu will once again hold the Citrineland Run for Gift of Life on May 13 at Robinsons Galleria Cebu.
The fun run which is now on its second year, gathered about 2000 participants last year to help save the lives of 10 children with congenital heart defects.
This year, aside from promoting health and wellness among its participants, the goal is to also inform and educate the masses most especially parents of children with CHD that there is hope for their children’s future.
Since 2007 the Gift of Life program, organized by Rotary Club of Cebu has given operations needed for children with congenital heart defect and renewing their hopes of a new life.
Among the children to benefit from the Gift of Life program is Rhenzo Ferrater, a 7-month old child, who experienced the struggle to breathe everyday.
Congenital heart defect also called Patent Ductus Arteriosus is a condition caused by a hole in the heart that allows oxygen-poor blood from the pulmonary artery to mix with oxygen-rich blood from the aorta.
In hopes for a better future, his parents were introduced to a program that would help give Rhenzo a chance to live life without struggling to breathe.
The Gift of Life program runs to negotiate, reduce professional fees and costs with doctors and hospitals. It also partners with sponsors and organizations especially the Department of Social Welfare and Development to help educate the parents with the basic needs of the patient after the operation.
Through the program, Rhenzo was adopted and supported by Citrineland Corporation for corrective surgery and is now on the way to full recovery.
Proceeds of the run will go to the Gift of Life Program. Join the run and be a light of hope to the children. Registration is ongoing at Digital Walker Cyberzone SM City Cebu or Digital Walker 3rd floor Ayala Center Cebu.
